Morris Folk Choir: Loud & Proud

2018 CD by London-based community choir

P&P: £1.50 UK/Isle of Man/Channel Islands; £3.50 Europe; £4.50 RotW

Morris are a London-based community choir directed by Michelle Woolfenden who perform unique arrangements of sea shanties, murder ballads, protest songs, contemporary folk tunes and work songs from around the world. They have performed at the Union Chapel, the Southbank Centre, the Young Vic, Bang Said the Gun and the City of London Festival as well as in parks and railway stations – and even on a canal barge. They also run the monthly Morris Folk Club, where everyone is welcome.

This CD was released in 2018 to celebrate the choir’s 10th anniversary. It features a selection of their favourites, both traditional and modern, by songwriters including Karine Polwart, Jess Arrowsmith, Tim Jones and George Unthank. Arrangements include guitar, banjo, violin, harmonica, clogs, a cappella singing and plenty of choruses to join in with.
